Painting can be an act of communication, but what is lost in translation? How does the viewer’s personal history and expectations shape meaning? Through this body of work, I explore these questions and raise others that only the viewer can answer. By revealing small snapshots of a greater narrative, I leave it up to the viewer to fill in the gaps. Instead of dictating a universal story, I create images with uncertain relationships and allow the viewer to create his or her own unique story; the imagery is evocative rather than didactic.
